Doctors to create awareness about the climate change in US
The doctors have special bonds with patients. These professionals who cure people from their pain are one of the most trusted individuals. The United States government is thinking to take advantage of this situation by lobbying for making doctors campaign for the climate change issue. White House recently went public with its intentions to promote President’s global warming agenda.
The White House played prerecorded speech of the President Obama at the gathering of doctors. Nurses, doctors and citizens need to come together to fight greatest challenge ahead of humanity, said the president. He also added that everyone needs to come together for a change. Global warming theory would just remain an academic concept if not connected to the day to day life.
Connecting the problems of global health to global warming was most difficult challenge faced by the administration. Top administrative officers, public health experts and U.S. Surgeon General were present at the gathering. Everyone urged health professional to make their patients aware of the global warming. Everyone is aware about the massive scale of global warming by now.
Assistant Secretary Nicole Lurie from the Health Department urged all doctors to start talking and educating about effects of climate change. Someone needs to trigger the discussions about the issue. She looks after preparedness and Response section at the department. The demands to update medical school syllabus as per climate change were also made by Vivek Murthy, Vice Admiral and country’s top surgeon. Eddie Bernice Johnson appealed people to support the Environmental Protection Agency.
